In this scientific study , the researchers were able to artificially grow a mini brain in 3D. This study stands out due to the following reasons :-
(1) for the first time an embryonic prototype of whole brain was reproduced in vitro;
(2) the structures, derived by methodology, which based on tissue self-assembly, got a name “organoids”;
(3) it proves the utility of such organoids for disease modeling;
(4) it demonstrates the progress and significance in moving from 2D to 3D culture systems
